Introducing ...

Howdy! My name is Tom and I am a photography student. I was informed in one of my classes this semester that we will need to refine our writing and vocabulary skills, so I thought what better way than to document my adventures through the world of travel and photography.

First off, I am enrolled in a portfolio development course at Cerritos College and an intermediate photography class at Cypress College. The portfolio development class seems to be incredibly difficult, challenging and most rewarding while the intermediate class just seems to be a small step up from my beginner class that I took last semester. I'll get more into my concept and project for my portfolio class in the coming weeks.

I frequently travel around the Southern California region searching for a great place too shoot. I'm starting to break out of my shell in that regard. A few weeks ago I drove up Highway 39 into the LA National Forest. I, also, travel to Downtown LA and Hollywood frequently for some nice city scape. I think one of my long term goals is to document how much nature is still located within city limits or incredibly close to it.

Sometimes I feel my equipment is lacking because I use only one lens, but then I check out some of the pictures I've taken and realize I have enough to get incredible results.

I started off with a Pentax K1000 last February but it has since crapped out. Here are a couple images from that camera:

It was decomissioned on a trip to the Hoover Dam last September.Right after that last picture was taken. I have since picked up a Canon EOS Rebel Ti, and it has done wonders for me. I picked up a nice prime 50mm lens from Best Buy and its gotten me some good shots such as

That kinda sums it up for me. I primarily shoot with Ilford HP5 B&W film and Fuji Color film, though I am starting to test Fuji Velvia 100.
