How Do You Fall: Downtown LA

On November 11th, I took a day trip out to Downtown LA. As usual I took my preffered route of driving down to the Metro Green Line station in Norwalk, CA and transferring over to the Blue Line train. This trip was mostly dedicated to the 11-11-11 project, but I also had wanted to eat lunch in Little Tokyo.

The order of the pictures are the timeline of my walk across the dense metropolis. I got off the Blue Line station at Pico station, Cut down 11th Ave and then walked across on Broadway.

This is still probably my most favorite place to take pictures at and seem to find something new to shoot every time. Even walking in the same places I've shot before. I think I should bring my substandard point and shoot next time to switch it up.

How Do You Fall? Clark Park

I don't know how it is for you guys, but Thanksgiving Day is just like an ordinary Thursday for me. Well... as ordinary of a day as one can have. I had the day off, and I was going to make sure I would use it to its fullest extent.

Around 9:00 or 10:00 in the morning I took off down the street to Clark Regional Park in Fullerton,CA. I've been here before. In fact, it was the first park I took my brand new used DSLR to for a test spin. Back then, I wasn't good at taking pictures with that type of camera. You think less when you're out shooting with them. At least that's how I feel every time I go and shoot my medium format camera.

This park has always been a fun place to go. Its a mixture of a regular city park, a small but decent size nature reserve and everything in between. This time around, I took the long and scenic route instead of checking out the middle of the park like I did on my first trip, many moons ago. The scenic route is a trail that basically follows the boundaries of the park. My arrangement today basically starts at the entrance to the park and working my way around. Hope you like them!

How do you Fall? Vista Del Valle Park

Like ever other part of the northern hemisphere, Fall has arrived. Well, if you look at the calendar, fall arrived on the 20th of September. But if you live here in Southern California, who are you really kidding. It just started about the week of Halloween. And, we've been getting rain or drizzle practically every week since.

This year, I wanted to actually see the colors of fall without having to drive way out of my way or to even fly to a different part of the country that actually experiences the four seasons of the year. So I shall spend this post and my next post viewing two different parks that had the colors of fall.

I used to drive the freeway to get home from work. About six months ago, Caltrans started a long project to widen the 5 freeway from Orange County to the 605 freeway. So, I've been relegated to driving the streets. Oddly enough, It takes me the same amount of time driving streets than it did driving the freeway. While on my way home, I've been driving past this park, Vista Del Valle Park. It looks kind of different since it is situated on a hill and you can't really see the majority of the park from the street. But I must be honest, most of this park was a dud, and it wasn't really worth visiting unless you'd like to let your kids run around or they have soccer/baseball practice over there. But I was able to find Fall in the trees and the bushes.
