Let's go ......... Right!

The end of Beach Blvd in Orange County, January 2012 - Shot with Canon Rebel XT, Canon 35-80mm f3.5-4.5,  Fujifilm Superia 400 (just a roll I picked up at Walmart)

I had read that Highway 39 went up into the mountains but had never seen it, at least in my current memories.. I drove all the way from the start of the highway, Beach Blvd and Pacific Coast Highway, which begins at Huntington Beach city beach and ends near Crystal Lake in the San Gabriel Mountains. A very scenic trip.

To follow highway 39 to the mountains, you must turn right at the intersection above Until you reach Harbor Blvd/Fullerton Rd. Then turn left and merge onto the 60 West going towards Los Angeles. Then get off at Azusa and turn right and follow the road up the rest of the way

That pic looks like a Polaroid from 1978. Any effects or filters on there?

I wish, man. I love those old Polaroid pics too. I was just looking at some I took 2 years ago on expired film.

This photo was taken with my film SLR. The only filter I had was my UV filter which is just there for protection. It might have reduced the glare from the sun if I had caught it in any windows.. Also, its unedited. All the dust marks and wild hairs from the scanner and all. I've been a bit on the cheap side to get filters.
About how long was the drive? And what day/time was it? I know depending on the time traffic can be horrendous!
I am really enjoying the shots you are getting out of your Canon. I need to get back into learning my camera... been so busy with work (working right now on a Saturday even!) that I haven't had time to go out and explore. I want to do a shoot of a street from one end of Santa Maria to the other end. Just to show how much a few blocks can change in such a small town.

Well, most of these shots I pulled out of my archive. They pretty much range the past two and a half years. I took this one around last January. Now that I think about it, it could have been taken as far back as two novembers ago. I kind of wanted to document the street because it used to be the main highway in the area when only I-5 was the only freeway through the LA and OC. So I was going to shoot pictures starting at the beginning and stop at places along the way. I didn't end up stopping much in the middle though. I did it on a Saturday because I had nothing better to do.

That sounds like a great idea. What you can also do is just go out for a few minutes and take a few shots and do it progressively so you aren't spending a whole day on that
Remember the old Highway 39 drive-in?...

Hell yeah! My grandparents live about a mile away from there. We used to drive past it all the time. I was very bummbed out when it was torn out. A stupid walmart is there now :'-(
I saw Close Encounters at that Drive-in. They played Devo's version of 'Satisfaction' before the movie....

You are lucky for sure. By the time I got to the age to have a girlfriend, it was already closed and the swapmeets were gone. I have to drive down to riverside now if I want to hit a drive in. I went to one last august as a matter of fact. Idk why we didn't go more often, its hella cheaper than the theater is.
