Kodak Selling Photography Department

I just saw an article posted on the British Journal of Photography website talking about the END of Kodak in the photography industry. While it may seem like good news and bad news all rolled up into one, I really have no idea on what to think at this point. Thankfully, the article does offer a little nugget of hope. Kodak is selling the entire division to a company who will pick up the ball and keep running with it and dedicate themselves to the cause. Its a very interesting read for anybody interested in film and using film. Thank god I use Ilford and Fujifilm for all of my needs.

glad to see it working again for ya. I guess when you add somebody to the whitelist they don't get moderated anymore. In your case its no big deal at all. You still give me the majority of my pageviews. Maybe I should do that for a few others.
Wow~ What about the phrase, "It's a Kodak moment" ??? What will happen to that??

Thankfully they are selling the whole department to another company with the intent of continuing the product. They are letting them use the name Kodak and everything. The only problem is if the company who buys the whole product line/name goes belly up. Who knows. there might be a clause that must prove that they can sustain it or it could be reverted back to them. One can hope.
This last Christmas I purchased for myself a Kodak Playsport.... a few months after that I read how Kodak went toes up. I was really sad and selfishly concerned over my warranty for my little video camera. Though I am glad the photo division will continue on as part of another company, I am sad. Kodak was a household name for me growing up. And I will second Cameron... what about, "It's a Kodak moment!"

Kodak is THE original film brand. At least it is here in the states and just the notion of it not being them is mind boggling. It reminds me when IBM sold their computer line to a chinese company and changed the name to Lenovo. I still wont buy from them.
